Bitcoin traded near $81,000 and ether around $2,350 during the Asian session on October 15, as selling spread across major cryptocurrencies.
CoinDesk’s morning report, citing CoinGlass, recorded approximately $483 million in Bitcoin and ether futures liquidations over the preceding 24 hours: $197 million in Bitcoin and $286 million in ether.
Ether takes the larger hit
The report put Bitcoin’s daily decline near 3% and ether’s above 6%. XRP and Solana were also lower. These are historical observations from that report, rather than current executable quotes.
What the numbers mean
Liquidations measure the value of positions forcibly closed when collateral becomes insufficient. They do not measure traders’ personal cash losses. The $483 million figure covers Bitcoin and ether, rather than the whole crypto market.
CoinDesk linked the weaker session to uncertainty over the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision. That reporting does not establish a single cause for every trade.
