The project, in context.

What it does

Berachain is a Layer 1 network with an Ethereum-compatible execution environment. Its distinctive focus is Proof of Liquidity: an incentive design connecting the network with applications, validators, and liquidity. The official introduction explains the architecture and the role of BeaconKit.

The 2025 milestone

This listing records the mainnet launch on February 6, 2025. The BERA disclosure whitepaper hosted by Kraken, section D.8, documents that date. Earlier community activity and testnets do not change the year of this specific milestone.

Network and token context

BERA is the network’s native gas and staking asset. Its role should be distinguished from other assets and reward mechanisms in the ecosystem. Check the official BERA documentation for the current description rather than assuming that every token using Berachain branding performs the same function.

What to research

  • Identify which assets, receipt tokens, and contracts a proposed activity involves.
  • Separate protocol incentives from the economic performance of an individual application.
  • Check withdrawal conditions, liquidity, and the consequences of changing reward rules.
  • Review current documentation: a 2025 launch overview does not describe every later upgrade.

Our directory does not attach a safety rating or projected return to the network. An incentive mechanism explains how a system is intended to work; its name alone does not establish the outcome for an individual participant.
